Keeping Our Beaches Private and Clean
On Sunday July 19th SFLD had a police detail to insure our beaches were used only by Sherwood Forest residents. Unfortunately there is still a problem with non residents coming to the beaches and boating on our lakes. The other issue is people allowing their dogs on the beaches. As much as we appreciate pets there is a leash law in Becket and a regulation that prohibits animals on beaches. The officer on duty reported that she did need to turn away a handful of people that were not from the Forest. She also reported that there was some animal activity, but that folks were very cooperative in removing their pets from the beaches. The Lake District has made a great effort to provide the best possible facilities for our residents and will continue to do so going forward.

Please! Snowmobiles and other off-road vehicles should not be used on any dams or berms in Sherwood Forest. Our dams have been newly repaired at considerable expense. The ground cover on the dams is still vulnerable to damage and erosion – especially without a deep snow cover. Please help us maintain them for the safety and enjoyment of all residents.
The flashboard on the dam at Big Robin is scheduled to be removed for the season on Tuesday 10/14/2014. The water level will draw down several inches for the winter in order to prevent ice damage to docks and to prevent flooding. Proprietors with vessels still on the water may want to take them out.
New picnic tables have been delivered to most of the beaches in Sherwood Forest. We hope you get a chance to check them out, sit for a while and enjoy the fall season.
SFLD GUEST ID TAGS
Do you rent or loan your property to guests? There are now SFLD ID tags for these folks to show that they have the same privileges as you do at our beaches and lakes. The tag will clearly identify your address and that your guests are properly using our facilities. There is a one time charge of $15 per tag.
Contact [email protected] for details or mail a check made out to SFLD for $15 to SFLD Tags, PO BOX 663, Becket, MA 01223. Please include a self addressed stamped envelope as well as your Becket address as it should show on the tag.
Sherwood Forest is a private community. Our goal is to keep our facilities clean and safe for our residents and their guests.
